everyone kept saying on here and real life that lots happen over summer and september that be positive space will come up at one of 4schools we on wait list for.

but we now into october.

shes 5 and defered until jan in mean time doing home ed and 3mornings at nursery school with another child waiting for school place.

Our position on waitlists unchanged.

no 2 on older sisters school where most of her preschool mates went

no?choice 2lottery school not sure where she is there as 30intake only if somene drops out or leaves does her name get put back in hat and redrawn.

no 3 nearest infants 509metres away no 3 still

no 4 additional choice steiner school was 19 not sure what is now and not convinced best fit for her but was free choice as new school opening as council said can only apply for 3 and be waitlist for 3 at any one time.

I turned down allocated school as dont like it and logistic nightmare.

Im trying be chilled out about it.

keep hearing twins may leave at choice 1 after xmas but not dead cert.

i need make decision in jan.

make matters more complicated youngest suppost to start sept 2015 dont think hes ready.

he has no sibling link at eldest school preference 1 as local council have really stupid local sibling rule despite us being 1.2miles from the school.

So my application fr child no 2 and no 3 is as 1st time applicant with no sibling link.

choice 3 infants had 55 siblings out 75intake!

we moved house end feb dident like any of schools near to old house.

now starting look further afeild at local schools near new house

looked at 2 dont like them.theres 3rd might consider added waitlist they have no r vacancies right now but intake of 90 so guess more movement.

but im close 2streets from county border so looking at 3primaries over the border, rang their admissions today they more helpful than mine shck horror said could do inyear admissions form online and get on the waitlist tehres currently 5 on waitlist 1school and 60intake i reckon based furthest distance we could be no 2 or 3 if added her to that.

the other 2va rc school control own inyear admissions.

1 shes already on and the rc school say no r vacancies and very rarly does space ever come up reception year other years sometimes.

its same at eldest school lots seem leave prep at juniors even year 1 vacancy im sure by year 1 she get a space at choice 1 but miss entire reception year.

also i dont know if can face going through another primary admissions and getting none of my 3preferences its been really shitty time.

i get annoyed when people at school ask.

had to contend with 2 reception parties other weekend which was torture.

her old preschol were really crappy about me not sending her to allocated school and choosing home ed,im lucky found nursery school over border that would take a 5year old shes been there few weeks and seems happy there.

if i can get her school place at any other school then i least then have sibling link youngest.

Im not prepared move eldest shes year 4 and already moved her once.

Its still my 1st choice but feel the school will undergo manay changed over next few years teachers retiring, new head relocating and maybe wont be same school i know and love so hearts saying love it hold out heads saying be realistic look at other option.

anyway feel its just too early than school place be early or late christmas present?

any stories of hope.

everyone thinks im stubborn deranged fussy hippy now of course.

god i hate school admissions.

3, I think past September you are more likely to get a place from a lower position on the list as if one child leaves, the LA will then work down the list and people above you are more likely to say no as time wears on. They might not proactively take themselves off the waiting list though.

Think it is time to start being realistic about your choices.
There is a possibility of a place becoming available at one of your 4 preferred schools but as time goes on it will become less likely - september is the point where pupils don't arrive and places get offered.
Also forget going straight into year 1, things are not going to be any better space wise and you will not win appeal if it is infant class size case.
By all means look at the schools in next LA but you have two months to decide which school your daughter is going to have to go to. Having declined the offer of a place, it is now your responsibility to find the school place and I suggest you start by speaking to the LA admission office and asking them where the nearest school is with a place available.
The other reason for getting this sorted is that you are going to be in a difficult situation with the youngest. If you start at a school immediately after christmas then you can apply for a place at that school and at least have a sibling link. But the cutoff date is Jan16th, so you do not have much time.

Although your position on the waiting lists have not changed, it's possible that the families above you may not wish to move their children now that they have settled into school. However you cannot guarantee that will happen before the application deadline for dc3.
My understanding OP is that in your LEA there is only a sibling link if you apply for your catchment school, but over the border there is a sibling link for all siblings. My advice would therefore be to apply by in-year form for the nearest school in the neighbouring LEA with space available. That would increase your chances of dc3 being offered a place either at dd1 school or dd2 school.

catslife · 09/10/2014 19:17

On the other hand (less positive I'm afraid) there is also the possibility that you could move down the waiting lists, if somebody moves into the area and lives closer to the schools than you do.

thanks guys im aware times ticking.

i know deadline baby boy is jan 16th for sept start but he has developemental delay and secial needs but until diagnosed I have to apply through normal way theres no catergory for special or medical need within normal admissions even letters from pead preschool and supportiving evidence wont be a factor.
I relly dont think hes ready start sept ad did plan defer him or even ask a if he can start year later, I know peple more severe than him who not statemented and its no longer called statements its educational plan which takes 20weeks min and requires lots professionals working together and agreeing right now we on long waitlists to see the professionals it sucks.

Im looking at 6 potential schools for 3him 3 within my own la and 3 within neighbouring but only have 3 preferences.

but dd2 is 5 and quite ready as missed startin last year by 16days.

heard today 1 definatly leaving eldests school reception class.

but i also know we no 2 and now whos no 1 and they desperate for place.

have no idea who no 1 ad 2 is on preference 3 infant school 509 metres from my house all i know is they live closer and someone who applied last year and waited finally got a place in april.

seems some schools have more movement than others.

i dont regret turnig down allocated school it wasent on my list logistical costly nightmare for mediocre school where she knew know one.

catlife you correct my la have if school has specific apr or cathement which choice 1 does and is tiny and discriminating and senseless but we knew that when moved eldest there.

or if you live more than 2miles away from eldest school you lose sibling link hence lots nerevous freinds too nervus to move until youngest is in.

neighbouring la no of local sibling rubbish could move 10miles down rd and still get a place. in year seems be easier than reception.

eldest school has lot movement in other years as we moved her there in year 2 when they had 3spaces.they still slightly under on juniors but fairly popular infants.

im going to open day nov nearby school neighbouring la.

spoke to them they said do inyear admissions form online cant do that here.

then she be added to waitlist.

theres 5currently on waitlist ad no 1 we know who that is and will probably accept our 1st choice if offered after half term.
based on furthest distance think we could then be no 1 23 out 4based on current waitlist distances prviding we like it its school that went through shit time very bad rep no new academy and on up heard great things locally but its 60intake and much more multicultural which maybe good thing just a very different school from school 1.would still be tricky logistic nightmare and cost me childcare as cant be 2schools at same time
