The camera will be out so I want to look half decent this time in the photo's. I have a new top, new jeans and am getting my roots done in time, hopefully !!

Well ok I admit it.

LOL Tinygang

I was thinking of taking a photo of DS1, in his new uniform, just to remember his first day at school - I'm sure it's not that unusual is it?

HyacinthB · 23/08/2006 23:12

lol poor Angelachill - she really caught the mood of the moment there. Don't worry Angela - they can be an acerbic lot...but 'no' I won't be getting a new outfit..

I thought loads of people took photos of their children on their first days of school. I have certainly seen plenty of pictures on MN alone each year!

I am not planning on doing anything special for ME though. But hey - if you want to, why not? Good excuse as any I guess.

LIZS · 24/08/2006 08:49

I'm sure some of ours would do the new outfit for themselves for drop off on the first day (and funnily a limo in the car park at the end of term is not unknown !) but I was more concerned that dd would actually go into the classroom , hang her stuff on the right peg, sit down nicely etc to care. So if anyone did, it went completely over my head. Yes I do have a first day photo - of the kids only though!

SSSandy · 24/08/2006 08:52

Uh-oh something else to do. Never thought of looking nice myself! Oops. Will rummage the wardrobe and see if I have anything nice that actually fits and is already ironed. Don't really have the time to shop for a new outfit for myself though.

lol, tinygang!

I wanna be in the photo's too, otherwise i think mummies are the people who are always behind the camera and it's as if you gave birth then didn't exist for 16 years.

Angela Chill you speak the truth. I was pretty low maintenance pre ds but now as you say don't think about how I look and then am mortified by the pics later........

kittyb · 24/08/2006 19:56

Of course you should take a photo of your child on his/her first day of school!

And now my 5yo has four mornings of school under his belt, I admit it - I have put my contacts in and had a shower each morning. I don't want other mothers saying "ergh, his mum looks a bit grimy!"

And I've made sure all my clothes are clean too (which didn't always happen during the summer holidays I'll tell you)

So yes, I do care what the others mums think about my appearance

AngelaChill · 24/08/2006 21:23

The sad fact seems to be that the mums at our school do judge you by how much banana you have in your hair and how together you appear. Probably not a good thing, certainly isn't for me !
