Aged 6,8.30pm. Sometimes later.

Hello OP

My dd is 10 and is usually in bed with lights out anytime from 8.30pm / 10.30 pm, it varies quite a bit.
We don't really have a set time, just when she's tired.

MrsBungle · 06/04/2014 17:56

My dd is 4 and a half and it's lights out around 7pm on a school night. She might be allowed a bit of extra reading time at the weekend.

IPokedABadgerWithASpoon · 06/04/2014 17:56

DS1 is 3, in bed about 7pm and asleep at the latest by 7.30pm
DS2 is 10 months falls asleep at about 8.30pm but is still up in the night for milk at about 4am

Effic · 06/04/2014 18:02

11 year old boy - in bed between 7.45pm & 8pm story / own reading time till 8.25pm. Lights out 8.30pm.

sunsout · 06/04/2014 18:10

My dcs go to bed at 9pm. Is it too late? How many hours sleep does your dc get?

7pm for my 7yr old, lights out 7.30pm

MilkRunningOutAgain · 06/04/2014 18:12

7 year old sent to get ready for bed 7:15, lights out hopefully by 7:45. But she often stays awake later, and then is tired the next day...I let her read if she really can't sleep. It is a real problem for her.

11 year old lights out 8:45, and he nearly always falls straight asleep.

Both wake up just before 7am usually.

WiseKneeHair · 06/04/2014 18:16

On school nights:
DS12 - in bed at 9, lights out 9.30
DS9 - in bed 8.30, lights out 9 (although usually asleep before then
DS5 - has stories read to him from 7.30, then left to get to sleep 7.50-8ish, although he often is still finding excuses for being awake until 8.30.
Weekends and school holidays are more flexible

Artandco · 06/04/2014 18:18

2 and 4, bed at 9pm. No way could we do earlier as rarely home before 6.30pm, have to cook/ eat/ bath/ relax. They wake 8/9am

MissWimpyDimple · 06/04/2014 18:28

7.5y.o bed at 7.30 reads till lights out at 8.

Only recently moved from 7.

Up at about 7-7.30. Still seems tired a lot of the time but I know she can't sleep longer.

Treaclepot · 06/04/2014 18:30

3 yr old - 7.15
6 - 7:30
8 - 9pm (always been a night owl, though he is in bed by 7:30 just reads)

defineme · 06/04/2014 18:39

My 9 yr olds lights out at 8pm on a school night, 9pm in the holidays. One gets up at 6.30, the other gets up at a more civilised 7.30 -they just need different amounts of sleep despite being twins.

12 yrold is 9 pm on school night, 10 pm holidays.

The NHS website will tell you the required amount of sleep a child needs, but obviously it depends on the individual too. It says a 6 yr old needs 10.25 hours a night-but if you think your child needs a little more or less I'm sure you know them best.

Taz1212 · 06/04/2014 18:46

DD(8) and DS(11) go to bed at 9:00. DS has to get up at 6:30 and DD gets up at 8:00. Generally DS bounces out of bed but I have to drag DD out despite her getting an extra 1.5 hours sleep!

teafor1 · 06/04/2014 18:49

My 4 and 6 year olds are in bed at 7 but are allowed to look at books as long as they wish. The 4 year old falls asleep fairly quickly and the 6 year old is rarely up past 7:30 or 7:45. They are both up at 6:30.

ilovepowerhoop · 06/04/2014 18:53

7yr old - 8pm school nights, 9pm non-school nights
10yr old - 8.30pm school nights, 9.30pm non-school nights

ChoudeBruxelles · 06/04/2014 18:54

Ds is nearly 8 and is usually in bed about 7.30/7.40 and lights out is 8.

He wakes up at about 6.30

Sparklysilversequins · 06/04/2014 18:56

Dd aged 7 - 9.00, up at 8.
Ds aged 11 - 10.30 up at 8.

So both getting their quota. Every day I am grateful that we live exactly five minutes walk from school so no early starts.

Marmitelover55 · 06/04/2014 18:59

DD1 is 12 and is usually in bed by 8.30 on a school night (except scouts which is later). At the weekends/holidays it's more like 10pm. DD2 is 10 and goes to bed later than DD1 in the week - usually 9pm. DD1 is finding secondary school v tireing.

I'm feeling a bit sad that we are losing our evenings...

Marmitelover55 · 06/04/2014 19:00

Oops forgot to say that they are both up at 7am.

joanofarchitrave · 06/04/2014 19:01

DS is 10 - school nights bedtime starts 8.30, we don't have a specific lights out time but around 9.15 - 9.30.

Non school nights bedtime starts 9pm.

tricot39 · 06/04/2014 19:19

Dcs 3 & 6. Upstairs at about 6pm aiming for lights off just before 7.

Bunnyjo · 06/04/2014 19:42

DO is 6yo. She's in bed for 7:30pm on a school night and around 8:30pm on a weekend. She usually wakes between 6 am and 6:30am of her own accord. It is pointless setting her bed time much later as she has to be up by 7am to get on the school bus just before 8am.

pointythings · 06/04/2014 21:06

DDs are 11 and 13 - both go up at 7.30, brush teeth, I read to them (yes, tha probably makes us weird) and then they read by themselves, lights out at 8.30. They are up well before 7 on a school day though.

Weekends and holidays it's later and more flexible.

mummy1973 · 06/04/2014 21:10

ds6 in bed and lights out by 7. Up at 7am.
dd9 in bed for 7 reads till 8. Probably asleep by 8.30. Up at 8am.
