Gap Boys clothing - Anyone else find it on the big size?

I want to order some T Shirts for my DS age 9 (she's quite slim and tall) the size 8-9 or medium sizes are huge but Im thinking the next size down will be too small.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yep Gap clothing (initially US based firm) runs slightly large - but I've always found this really useful because I tend to buy those nice summer dresses around now and need them for the one hot day in August!

Also helpful when buying things for my nephews.

personally I prefer gifts that are slightly big (which the girls can grow into) than gifts which are just right (or worse too small).

Yes, my DS (9yo) wears 7/8 year old jeans from Gap.

I buy my 5 year old age 6 but he is quite tall

Yes as are many brands, I'm a slim 5'8 adult male and I often buy from the childrens ranges! My son is average size for his age (13) and he often has a size below.

Yes huge sizes.

It's not cool for kids to wear a year younger so it's like the opposite of vanity sizing for women.
Maybe it is based on US children who perhaps are larger/ taller?

The toddler 0-5 range comes up really small (t-shirts ridiculously so) but I find the older range pretty much on point.

Both my 4 and 7 year are wearing the correct age trousers from Gap although the fact they do their tops across 2 ages means that they can start off on the large side

I find their girls stuff comes up quite small for very tall DD but the boys is enormous on just above average DS. As they are the same size, I expect to buy the same size clothes but the difference between girls and boys is huge.
