Hi today my dd came home from school to tell me that she was playing the Grinch in the Xmas play. I was so happy as she isn't one of the kids who is usually chosen for anything. Anyway just to really check - I said ''that's great how many Grinches are there,'' thinking maybe there were another 20 and the school had a new take on the story. She looked surprised and said - 'there is only one of course.' 'Brilliant' I said 'and that's you'. 'Yes mummy, Miss said put your hand up if you want to be the Grinch and I was the only one who put my hand up Grin, She is soooo happy Smile

Grin there's a girl who knows an opportunity when she sees one!

There always seems a mismatch to me after reading MN, lots of children who want to be out of sight in the chorus and lots of mothers who want them in a main part!

Well done her!

Excellent. It would be great fun to play The Grinch - bit like Mr Scrooge.

Fuzzymum1 · 04/12/2013 21:13

Excellent - it's so nice when kids get the part they want.

DS2 (3.7 years) came home from nursery distraught last month because he's been cast as a king and he wanted to be a penguin.

We watched the performance yesterday and it was very traditional - not a penguin in sight. DS2 was, of course, brilliant. Particularly when he fell off his hay bale because he was having a hay fight with one of the other kings, and then his robe fell off because the sharp tug applied by his key worker dragging him back onto his bale loosened the Velcro fastenings.....

Enjoy making the costume though Wink

Well done her for having the confidence to put her hand up on her own too.
