This is a real tragedy for all concerned, especially the girl and her family.

It is the first gym PE death I have read about. I have heard about others on school run or rugby ball passing.

It will make all school sports people look at their systems (That was said at the inquest) My best wishes to all concerned

we must try and keep a sensof proportion at this sad time. Schools will just want to take a look at their sports systems in view of what was said at the inquest.

It is absolutely tragic and very, very sad. But sometimes things are accidents. I saw a child fall from a soft ball to a very soft padded floor and break an arm. My father broke an ankle tripping over his own feet on the grass. OK, not deaths, but they just show that even seemingly "safe" situations are not always.

It is right and proper that school systems are evaluated, but it will never be possible to remove all risk.

well said caterpillar, But some experts fealt Olympics hysteria led to toughening up PE etc. After all, it is compulsory the kids have no choice. Do their parents? And what is the injury level at PE/sports

There was a girl of a similar age died last year I think local to me...I believe she fell from a "Horse" in a PE lesson.
