Primary teacher? Do you use SIMS and Raise online?

Why do you want to know?

Am a governor at a primary school. None of the staff have access to SIMS or Raise online apart from the HT and Deputy HT. Am trying to get a sense of whether this is flipping weird, or not that unusual.

What do you mean "have access to"? Our office computers (rather than teachers / classroom) hold the data. SLT analyse it and present the data and summary at staff meetings each term, Pupil Progress Meetings unpick the data further with each class teacher. We also have print it out of all their SIMs data. RAISEonline is similarly shared with staff.

You do see some teacher's eye glaze over at summary data meetings; they would rather look at individuals than complex sub-sets of cohorts. They need someone to present the points they need to look at e.g. this year summer born boys did well in maths Attainment Target 2, but not so well in AT4 ... why and what can you do to close this gap?

We have the same set up as NewName . It's not a secret but isn't available for teachers to just browse; it's something the SLT look at and share with us openly at staff meetings.

No, the staff and pupil network is separate from the office's network. They're the only ones with access to SIMS. I don't know what Raise is.

Well at my school all the teachers have access to SIMS and have to input all their data themselves into it. We then have pupil progress meetings with SMT where we analyse the data, but it's up to us to input it.

We do registers on sims and input all of our data onto it.

I think Raise is only accessed by SLT, rather than all staff, but all staff use SIMS- have to for marksheets and registers.

We use a slightly different non-SIMS system for analysing pupil progress, to which all staff have to enter data and from which we all create summary reports for our classes. There are also other data formats that the SMT, especially the deputy head, derive from these to help us to focus on specific issues.

I don't have access to Raise in my current school (used to be chief data wrangler in old, much smaller, school) but the data on it is shared freely.

oooooh.... now yesterday I wouldn't have know this... but as of my first proper governor's training last night |I can tell you that we use:

Raise on line - head has overall password, governor's get selected data to protect data. We are encoruaged to read it well after it comes out in Feb.

'our local council' data - they do their own analysis which seems awesome, comes out much earlier, is easier to read and the 'headlines' are much clearer.

As a secondary teacher we had a slightly different to sims thing but produced similar info

Do you get a head teachers' report with similar data on?

The Head and I do at our school, quite common I think. We then break it down for staff to avoid destroying part of their souls overloading them with unnecessary date.
