Help me fathom out Oxford RT book banding and expected reading levels/ages etc

Ok. I feel a bit thick. I've googled but am not much the wiser.

Ds has just turned 6 and has just started Y2. The Oxford RT book colour he's on is orange stage 6. However on the spine of the book, the school seem to have stuck a turquoise label and have written the number 17 on the front. He doesn't always bring home an ORT book but they're always number 17. Is this the school's own book banding number?

I don't think for a moment that ds is excelling at reading but I'd line to know roughly what stage he's at before the first parents evening of the year next month.

Even more stupidly, I have an elder dd who seemed to do free reading really quickly (mainly because I said she was bored my the school books and the teacher just let her). I feel like I still know nothing about Oxford Reading tree.

Help? I think I just want to be told he's doing averagely okGrin

I think the 17 you refer to equates to the PM Benchmarking system. Turquoise is I think about a level 1a/borderline 2c so bang on target to be a 2b, possibly higher at the end of this year.

If you google Reading Recovery levels you'll find your answer
