Did anyone hear Mashabell on Radio 4 this morning?

Well! What a turn up for the books. I read mashabell's posts about phonics / teaching reading / spelling reform with some reservations but this morning masha was featured on Stephen Fry's programme about language and she made a fascinating contribution.

ha ha yes I did! Was idly listening in the bathroom. Thinking hmm phonics spelling blah blah and then Stephen Fry says and now we are going to talk to Mashabell!

The programme was called Fry's English Delight.

Funny, he pronounced it "marsha bell" but in my head it has always been masha (short, northern a) which goes to demonstrate the problem at hand!
