If you have yr 6 dc in Wales have you had results for the new national tests?

That's it really, I'm sure when they did the new reading & numeracy tests earlier in the year we were told we'd get the results.

We got dd's school report on Friday, which has teacher assessment of NC levels but no reporting of the tests results, so I was a bit surprised.

(Before everyone points it out, I know the teacher assessments are more accurate, but I have particular reasons for wanting to know what the test results are before she goes up to secondary.)

The maths results aren't back yet and in our LEA we have been told not to send them out until we have maths and lit so our reports have gone home and the national test results will go out as soon as we have them.

The school have to send them home,it's not a choice.

We're just hoping they arrive before the end of term!
Although when I met with secondary staff earlier this term for transition they didn't seem to have any intention of even looking at the results.

I think they were supposed to arrive last Friday...

I thought the reading results were fairly accurate, I didn't have any surprises. However, lots of pupils seemed to find the time limit on the maths too short so I'll be interested to see if they are as well matched to teacher assessment.

We were told they'd be ready by last Friday but now it looks as if the official info for parents won't be with schools until Wednesday.

It's going to be hard to get everything printed, copied and out to parents by Friday. There will be no time to address any parents questions / concerns. Will be very interesting to see how the results are presented - schools really don't know how they're going to do this! It will be a standardised score not a National Curriculum level.

What is a 'standardised score', rhiwpix? Do they correct for age? I had thought they were going to give percentiles?

You may well be right, Takver. Not sure - schools will be given the standardised score but maybe the reports will be percentiles. We haven't seen them yet so can't say.

They're linked. Best explanation I can give you is to think of IQ scores. 100 is the average (median). The majority of the population fall between 85 & 115.

And yes, sorry, standardised scores take into account age.

Hopefully they will give an explanation with whatever they send us! (Welsh govt that is, not school)
