Hi,

I have to make a choice very soon for my little boy between Downsend School in Leatherhead and Claremont Fan Court in Esher. I live in Surbition and both are convenient in terms of commuting. They have a very different feel and also look different.
Can anyone give me their opinion based on experience about the 2 schools ( pros & cons). It would be greatly appreciated (smile)

Hi Latte,

Moving to Oxshott with my 2.5 year old boy and have the same question....thanks

It really depends on what you are considering for senior school. As you know Diwnsend is a true PREP school ie totally focused on 13+ common entrance. Claremont is a through school so will have totally different academic focus. So if you want a prep school go for Diwnsend but Claremont won't help you if you anticipate changing for senior schooling

Some children leave downsend at 11 too, not just at 13.

Trinity that's true but they are not prepped for 11+ exams- the focus us very much on the 13+ CE. It's mainly girls who go at 11
