Is it a bit meh to get teachers at DS's school a small gift after a good ofsted report?

DS's school recently got a good report, the school is fabulous, he loves going. The head teacher is brilliant and the staff are great. They always work so hard and this report is just what they deserve(has improved a lot). I thought about getting some biscuits or chocolates or something and a card next week on the last day of term but is it a bit like sucking up?

Get your son to make a card.

No its a lovely idea and they will appreciate it

Personally, no I wouldn't. I know the sham that is the ofsted.

I'd get a gift for the teacher to thank them for the work they've done with my individual child rather than to congratulate them on an Ofsted report. Get a gift to thank them, but not for the report.

Personally I would leave it till the end of the school year. Having said that DD recently wrote a letter to the HT telling her that she loved her more than me Grin

I would be more inclined to give a card thanking them for the actual things they do that are great and for all their work etc, rather than congratulating them on ofsted giving them a good report

They bloody deserve it! Went through Ofsted recently, and since they moved the goalposts (again!) it's so much more stressful and worrying. I think it's a lovely idea, but I agree with mostly going along the lines of thanking them for their hard work. Maybe add the congratulations at the end. They'll love you for your kind thoughts.

After the Ofsted I went through in May, a couple of parents sent in a box of biscuits/chocolates for the staffroom, along with a card saying something along the lines of "we already knew you are all fantastic; now Ofsted have recognised it too."

I can assure you the biscuits were extremely well received!!!

A large tin of biscuits would be an excellent idea.

Swift101 · 06/02/2013 19:38

Yes toomuchicecream that was my thoughts, sort of an acknowledgment that although I think the school is fab anyway I want to say well done for getting through the ofsted inspection as I know how tough it is (sister is a teacher at diff school). The head has really pulled the school up and there's a great atmosphere there.

The school are really proud of the report even if it's a sham (I keep reading that as sahm)!

Hmm, think I will get DS to do a card, simple message, box of nice chocs. Thanks

Just thought it's prob not the best time to get them something on the last day of term doh! I'll do it when they return. Thanks everyone.

I think it is a lovely idea. However much we think Ofsted reports should be taken with a pinch of salt they are incredibly gruelling for all involved. A big tin of biscuits for the staffroom saying well done and that the report confirmed what you knew already would be lovely. You could do it on Monday - they'll enjoy some sugar to get them through the last week.
