Do we have a realistic chance of a place on 7+ reserve list?

Hello

Any advice or thoughts would be most welcome! My DD is on the reserve list for Highgate 7+ which is very much our first choice school. This is our first experience of this process so very hard to know how to deal! Are there many on the reserve list? Does everyone who gets invited to interview but not an offer a reserve list place? Do we really have a realistic chance of a place? It's a very stressful process - trying to stay positive! Thanks

We're in the same boat andsowewait - and know of 2 or 3 others.
No idea how big the list is or how many they over-offer by. Just trying to manage expectations really. Thankfully DD has no idea of the stress!

Oooh, this is making me feel really disheartened, it sounds like loads of girls are on the reserve list for Highgate. We're on it too and it's the only school we applied for. I can't believe my DD got so far and now it might all be for nothing...

Just want a descision now, I hate all this waiting..

Just hang in there, AlexiWhiteHouse. I know for sure that 2 offers will be declined as DCs are taking up other offers. Deep breath ladies :)

DS is on the reserve list (RL). we called the school today - they said 20 on the reserve list, last year they made offers to one boy and one girl from RL. If so many people reject, how many school over offers?

as of today 21 boys and 20 girls offers accepted

cheese2013, did they say where you are on the list? They take 25 of each sex?

they did not tell where we're on the list, not sure abt boys/girls split today they told me people are quite slow with acceptance this year, probably today will be some movement after meeting yesterday?

We've had this experience. Between now and next September lots can change. Some kids will be holding on to several places until nearer the deadline; some parents will decide they can't afford and pull out and some parents will have moved away

I spoke to the school today. They said that every year they get several people who verbally accept offers who then fail to confirm in writing. They didn't tell me how many have accepted so I don't know if the numbers above are written or verbal.

They also said it may take a few days from the 13th for them to confirm acceptances, people say the cheque is in the post and they have to chase the verbal acceptances etc. but if there is a place you will get called as soon as they can. Sadly those who get a no will have to wait even longer for confirmation.

BTW my DW has posted above so its not another DC on the reserve list.

Good luck tomorrow anyone on Highgate reserve list. I'm going to be checking my phone every 5 mins! Guess it's the 8+ for us otherwise...

Has anyone heard of anyone getting an offer? or spoken to the school? as I posted above they did say they may take a while to confirm acceptances and the letter they sent said "on or around the 13th".

Though it doesn't feel good not hearing today.
