Shall I put a state school on my CAF form if I all others are faith schools?

I chose 4 catholic schools - which are oversubscribed, so quite unlikely to get a place, then put on the 5th place COE - I live 5 min away from it and it is quite likely I get there. Now, on the 6th place - shall I put one more catholic which is further away school or state school which is 5 minutes away?

I have put a safe bet as my number 6, even though I don't particularly want it, I think it is preferable to getting none of my 6 and having to go to a school on opposite side of borough.

PS good luck! I hope you get one you and your DC like!

You should use your last choice for a school where you have a good chance of getting in. If you don't get any of your preferences you will be offered a place at the nearest school with places available. That will be an unpopular school and could be some distance from your home.

Based on what you say it is unlikely you will get the Catholic school so I would go for the other one.

For your sixth preference you should put down the community school for which you are in catchment or if there is not catchment areas in the admission criteria the community school that is nearest to where you live.
This is the fall back position if all your other preferences are not able to be met.
