"Mum, did you know we have guns in our body?" I was Confused and said 'what?' "Guns Mum. We have guns in our body." Even more confused, I asked 'what do guns do?' "I dunno, help us breathe I think."

Her teacher had been talking to her about lungs.

Is that sort of mishearing normal in Yr 1?

My sister when a child insisted that the words of her favourite hymn were 'I am the lord of the dance settee' (instead of 'said He') mum and I were crying with laughter

Clary · 09/01/2013 23:57

Pancakeflipper · 10/01/2013 00:02

Lord of the Dance settee???

Bloody hell, that's brill.

My DS1 used to talk about the song they were singing at school called "Harry Woo Yes" Was Hallelujah.

sazale · 10/01/2013 00:45

We have had a variety of odd songs from reception DD. Most recently (harvest festival) it was "Big, Red, Carbona-ara, Big, Red, Carbonara...flashing the corn, carbonara, flashing the corn, carbonara...." Nothing would convince her it was actually 'combine harvester' and 'thrashing'.

Looksgoodingravy · 10/01/2013 15:08

We had a 'Patridge in a pantry' Grin

Ds heard Jesus as Cheesus back in YR - he still says it in Y5 Blush
But then he also heard conkers as plonkers, light sabres (star wars) as light savers and a huge variety of others.
If I didn't know better, I would have said he was Mrs Malaprop's love child!

zipzap · 10/01/2013 17:45

When ds1 was little he used to ask for me to sing the 'Baby cd ' song. First time I had no idea what he was on about but he was adamant it was a song I sang him.

So I got him to try to sing it to me and he did - baby cd e f g h etc etc Grin

zipzap · 10/01/2013 17:46

Oops meant to say it was the alphabet he wanted!

My DD - aged 6, Year 1 - shares my love of scented candles, and likes to ask me if she can sniff my wanky candles (Yankee, Yankee!)

Ixia · 10/01/2013 21:58

The Manx national anthem has the words, "No evil our souls can betide.", most kids know this line actually says evil arseholes :)

Aw zipzap - that brings back lovely memories, I'd completely forgotten that DS used to ask me to sing the 'baby cd' song as well. Grin
