We recently started at a new primary school and I was quite surprised at the 2.30pm finish. It's quite early isn't it? We start at 8.20am.

It's great in lots of ways as there's plenty of time for homework and afternoon activites.

DD - 8:30am - 3:45pm (3:30pm for infants)
My school - 8:50 - 3:20pm

Fuzzymum1 · 14/12/2012 22:39

8.55 til 3.30 here.

fatcuntroller · 15/12/2012 08:16

8.55 til 3.20 for reception, and 8.55 til 3.30 for the rest of the school.

whomovedmychocolate · 15/12/2012 08:19

Reception: 8:50 - 3:10, KS1 8:40-3:10

MaryPoppinsBag · 15/12/2012 08:46

Doors open at 8.30 - although in infants parents are not supposed to leave the children until 8.45.
Pick up at 3.15. Long days I think for the infants. But I think it was done to align the two parts of the school which were once a separate Infant and Junior school. (Ofsted reccomendation)
And 15 minutes was added to the day so that there could be an afternoon playtime as the older children weren't getting one.

8.45 -3.15 although you can drop foundation kids off from 8.30

roughtyping · 15/12/2012 08:56

9-3, 45 mins for lunch, 15 mins for break

AntoinetteCosway · 15/12/2012 09:07

I teach at a secondary and we have 8.30 to 5.15.

Where you can't drop off till 8.45 or 9, how do you get to work on time afterwards?

RillaBlythe · 15/12/2012 09:45

9 till 3.10.

I'd love your hours OP.

NotMoreFootball · 15/12/2012 18:42

We do 7.40am till 2.45pm, works brilliantly for fitting homework and any after school activities

RillaBlythe · 15/12/2012 19:16

My dd age group in South Africa would do 7.30 to 12.30. Lovely.

XBenedict · 15/12/2012 19:18

Rilla DD started in school in Cyprus and our school day was 7.20 - 12.15 and you're right it was lovely. Leisurely lunch followed by an afternoon on the beach Xmas Smile

8.25 to 15.40 with a 1.5 hour lunch break. Though school finishes at 12.05 on a Wednesday and 14.40 on Friday. Abroad though.

8.50 to 3.15pm Mon-Thurs 8.50-12.25 on a Friday

trinity0097 · 16/12/2012 08:17

Where I teach, we do 8.30 until 5.30, the last 50min of the day being compulsory supervised prep, so other than the yr 8's preparing for common entrance when the kids get home they don't have to do any work. It also means that we mark the children's work, not that of the parents!

Labootin · 16/12/2012 08:21

7.30 -2.15 except on Thursdays when it's 7.30- 1.15 (international school in Dubai)

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 16/12/2012 10:13

We're 9-10.45 then 11-12.15 then 1.15-3.15. DD's school has an extra five minutes of morning break, so the day ends at 3.20.

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 16/12/2012 10:14

Where are you, Groovee?

wewereherefirst · 16/12/2012 10:20

0845-1515. But the school day officially starts at 0905, this is DS1 primary school. They have 30mins break and an hour for lunch in KS1.

ChristmasJubilee · 16/12/2012 16:51

0900-1445 with 20 min break and 1 hour for lunch. They used to finish at 1430 but changed the year before last.

muminthecity · 16/12/2012 16:57

8.55-3.15. Morning break is 10.40-11, lunch is 12-1.15 for KS1, 12.20-1.15 for KS2. No afternoon break.

conorsrockers · 16/12/2012 17:21

8am - 4pm for us, 3.45pm up to Year 4. There's usually a club after school (running, rugby, karate or something) so pick up is 4.45pm. Great for working Mum's Grin.

EuphemiaInExcelsis · 16/12/2012 17:27

8am-4pm?! Where's that? Glad I don't teach there!

orangeberries · 16/12/2012 17:41

Ours is 8:45-3:30
I thought this was the norm but it looks like it isn't at all!
