What time does is start and finish at your school?

We recently started at a new primary school and I was quite surprised at the 2.30pm finish. It's quite early isn't it? We start at 8.20am.

It's great in lots of ways as there's plenty of time for homework and afternoon activites.

That would sound about right if you start at 8.20am. We start at 8.40 and finish at 3.

MirandaWest · 14/12/2012 18:58

DCs school starts at 8:55 and ends at 3:20.

pinkpeonies · 14/12/2012 18:58

Lots of secondaries round here start early and finish early.

snice · 14/12/2012 18:59

9 til 3.30 here

TwllBach · 14/12/2012 19:00

8.55 till 3.30

BackforGood · 14/12/2012 19:00

I think it's unusual, but if they start that early, there's time to get in enough hours I suppose.

MilkRunningOutAgain · 14/12/2012 19:02

we have a little longer day, primary school: 8:45am - 3:20pm.

mrz · 14/12/2012 19:12

We start at 8.45 and finish at 3.30

How long do they get for lunch and do they have morning and afternoon breaks OP>

XBenedict · 14/12/2012 19:15

Yes they have morning and afternoon breaks and a lunch break, I'm not sure for how long tbh. I think they do the same hours as everyone else and as I said before we do have plenty of time to do other stuff in the afternoon.

Haircuts and shoe buying become really easy as there's never any other school children around so it has it's advantages! Smile

8.50-3.10 here.

cumbrialass · 14/12/2012 19:34

8.45 to 3.15 here, but only 45 mins for lunch in KS2

pinkpeonies · 14/12/2012 19:44

KS1 and KS2 have 45 min lunch here and no afternoon break.

SizzleSazz · 14/12/2012 19:46

8.50 to 3.15 here

CremeEggThief · 14/12/2012 19:48

8.55 to 3.10 here. My DS would struggle with yours, OP, as I have to wake him at 8 every day. Secondary school in a year and a half is going to be a shock for him...

mrzs would be my ideal!

GoingGoingGoth · 14/12/2012 19:55

We've just moved and new school is 9:00 to 3:00, was a shock as was used to 8:50 to 3:30.

knackeredmother · 14/12/2012 19:56

8.40 - 3.30 everyday. Dd says its too long (in reception)

Blu · 14/12/2012 19:59

Primary: 9 - 3.30
Secondary 8.30 - 3.15

almapudden · 14/12/2012 19:59

8.30-4 in the school I teach at. After school clubs run 4-5. But it is a private school and there are two games afternoons a week, as well as clubs from 2.30 on a Friday afternoon.

BsshBossh · 14/12/2012 20:35

9 to 3.30 here. But I would love your hours much more as we're all out of bed at 7am and school's only up the road. A 2.30 finish would make after-school activities and playdates so easy (less of a rush on top of homework).

mam29 · 14/12/2012 21:32

old school was 8.55-3.15
new school primary 8.50-3.30 think they get full hour lunch and have some lunch clubs plus small hall so 2sittings for lunch 2breaks but dd ks1 know slightly less for ks2 in all primaries as they have to teach for so many hours excluding registation and assemblies.

must admit like later finish but that extra 5mins in morning plus extra commute find hard.

we do breckfast club once a week drop off 8 which is lovley as not as much traffic on road feels much less stressful.

innoparticularorder · 14/12/2012 21:39

8.50 - 3.25.

Even with the early start at OP's school I still think it's a really early finish.

dishwashervodkaanddietirnbru · 14/12/2012 21:41

8.55 - 3pm with 50 minute lunch break and 15 minute morning break (no afternoon break)

BabyGiraffes · 14/12/2012 22:01

8.45 to 3.15. Free breakfast club from 7.45. After school care until 6.

CURIOUSMIND · 14/12/2012 22:06

8:55-3:15 here, but I hope it's 8:55-2:30, so we got comfortable time for other activities, and a family dinner time. I really don't like winter time kids come back in dark.
