is there a reason this has happened?

gone from reading stage 10 ort in year 1 to stage 8 (robins?) ort in year 2 (age 7)?

i'm just wondering why this is that's all...

What's the band? Many bands cover a few stages. For example orange covers stage 5-stage eight magpies. Could it be the same band just a different stage ?

If I was you I'd ask the teacher who has called for the level to be lowered. But if I was to take a guess I'd say that it probably has nothing to do with your son's ability to read the books themselves at any level. But I expect what's probably going on is that the teacher is then asking your son some well-known comprehension questions and your son is giving answers which don't satisfy her. So she's giving him slightly simpler books in the expectation that he will answer questions on those more faithfully.

At the moment ds gets books ORT from stage 8 to 11. They're all one colour band though.

ahh... i see ref the same band, different stage. i'm not sure what the band is - there's a yellow sticker on the side?

learnandsay - can you give me an example of well-known comprehension questions please? Xmas Confused

If its gold band then it ranges from stage seven - 10/11 :)

Have you asked your child's teacher?

My dd has also been bringing home a complete mixture of ORT 8, 9 and 10 this term. Tbh they all seem roughly the same difficulty wise and roughly right for dd. I was wondering why! But now I know, thanks everyone.
