Help! Have just returned after years away from overseas, trying to get my son into a good school as an in year application- he should be in reception. Wimbledon Park is closest, I visited today, lovely, we may just make the catchment area, but it is notoriously over subscribed. Seeing as I would like my son to start school asap I am told to be patient on a possible waiting list for that school, but realistic about others that may have vacancies more immediately - Please, opinions on - Riversdale, West Hill, Garfield, or any others in the area we may be more likely to get into???? HELP!

There's a link here to schools which have vacancies in Merton

Rivers dale and WestbHill would be a no for me. I'd try Bishop Gilpin, St Michaels and the one beginning eith S on Longfield Street - can't remember the name! You might have luck with in-year application. Bishop Gilpin I know had availability above year 3 (was a few years ago though) because several left for prep schools then.
