Looking for inspiration - numbers and letters "games" for reception aged DS

DS1 came home from reception this afternoon and asked if we could play some numbers and letters games... Which I was keen to do, but then drew a bit of a blank!

He couldn't really explan what he meant but it was clearly more geared towards physical type games (mr wolf, hide & seek sort of thing) rather than written games.

I'm going to ask his teacher tomorrow, but just wondered if any teachers or parents had inspirational ideas that I could copy!

Eye spy is a good one.

Oh yes... So obvious but it didn't occur to me!

Bump for any more ideas?

Hopscotch?

Not so much a game, but fun never the less. Do you have a digital camera? Get him to go round taking pics of things beginning with a certain letter.

Can you play games that involve a dice? Maybe snakes and ladders, ludo etc?

You could do something like a treasure hunt, where DS has to find things beginning with a particular letter.

Or a game of dominoes, if you have them.

Write letters on paper, cut them up and ask DS to stick them on an item starting with that letter, ask him to collect things you use as 1, in twos (shoes), three (knife, fork and spoon), etc.
