Dd3 started school today. She was the only one in the class crying. Plus she had her arms so tightly round my neck that I thought she was about to do one her strangle holds on me. Sad

No other child in the class cried.

Please tell me your child cried when he/she started school and they are a confidant brain surgeon type person now. She is shy and I obviously haven't instilled enough confidence in her. Oh when is it 3pm so I can go get her and never let her go back again.......

I knew I should have deferred her, I have made such a mistake. Is it too early for Wine

(I had to post on MN about it asking how to reconcile her to school, to which one notable and splendid MNer suggested bribery Grin.)

Thanks motherinferior. Not looking forward to the morning again, hoping now she has done it she will be fine.

Awwww poor you and your dd. How long did the crying go on for?

Most bizarre conversation with my DS when he was in Reception - he was velcroed to my leg refusing to go in, I said whispered 'OK, what will it take for you to go in with no fuss?' (bad parent)

His answer?

'can I stay for after school care? '

Confused

Nowadays he gives me a hard time about bribing DD.

Felt much better this morning. She got up and gave me an extremely tight cuddle, then eat, washed and dressed no problems.

Very sombre walking to school although quite interested in her inhaler etc. being handed into the office.

She sat down at her desk, I gave her a quick kiss and said good bye. She kind of looked dazed as I walked away but no tears.

She has now asked to go in early tomorrow morning so as she can be the first to find her name and put it up on the board. "even though it is not my real name because it is not spelt propery" She only has three letters in her name so easy to spot. Not quite sure how the school got that wrong!!

Anyhow, think she is over the worse of it now. This morning we passed about 5 p1's in various stages of hysterics. So maybe she wasn't the only upset child yesterday.

Stealth my ds said exactly the same!

ds didnt cry when he started, he cried just before Christmas and then on and off from then on. Loved school though.

Hes just started p2 and I do occasionally think I should have deferred him but I think thats only because I miss my baby boy!

Well Bea I am back to thinking - I should have deferred-

After asking to go to school early tomorrow........at bed time she asked if she could just stay off school tomorrow...her sister told her she has to go everyday....and then tears.

Why oh why didn't I defer her. Think there may be tears again in the morning...bribery will be my solution Grin.
