Y6 teachers: to achieve English L5 overall would child need L5 for internal writing?

In schools that have done the internal writing assessment - DD's included - would they have to get L5 S&L, L5 writing and L5 reading to get L5 overall? Or could they get 2 x 5's, 1 x 4 and still get L5 overall?

Depends!
There were two ways of calculating the overall English mark this year. One was giving equal weight to S&L, writing and reading-and on that method ( in our authority) a 5/5/4 score would have given an overall L5. The other way was based solely on the reading and writing scores. We used the former for reporting to the LA and the latter for reporting to parents!
