Hi

DD has scored a point 1 on her EYFS forvthecend of nursery (attached to the school she will attend).

My understanding is that she should be on a 3.

She is severely hyper mobile in her legs which is why the score is so low. She sees an OT on a regular basis and we do plenty of things at home to help (stuff that was suggested by mrz).

I have just filled in the paperwork for her for starting school and have listed all the problems she has and have attached an assessment from her OT so they know what she will struggle with when she is full time ie stairs, using the water fountains, sitting cross legged for long periods etc).

My question is that if her PE score is so low do the school put anything into place like they would if it was a more "academic" subject iyswim??

They should do.

Ask for a meeting with the SENCO to discuss it.

Yes they should be able to provide a physical programme (perhaps one provided by her OT)

Thanks, will have have someone in the school who can do it with her??

Yes, a TA can do daily exercises with her.

But school will probably need input from your OT to tell school what they should be doing for her......

Thanks, the OT has already been into her nursery school and had a chat with her teacher there (twice) about how to help her and luckily she is having the same teacher in reception so that will help.

I just feel it is crucial to act now before the gap between her and her peers gets bigger especially as there is so much we (OT, myself and hopefully the school) can be doing iyswim.
