We have just moved back to the UK and I now have the uniform list for dc, can anyone let me know where I can find the following,
White roll neck jumpers to fit a 2 1/2 year old
Black plimsolls with white soles for a 6 year old.

Also when it says trousers may be worn Novemeber to March, I take it that means when he starts school in Sept he will be in shorts . When they say name tape everything do they mean socks etc as well?
Have to admit to being a bit overerwhelmed.

But often trousers are worn by children just joining the school in the autumn term and they don't get shorts until the following summer....

Some socks have a white bit on the band that I presume you could write a name - although I label DS's (and he normally wears them inside out with the name tapes sticking out).

M&S have done socks with the white bit inside the seam that are perfect for the iron on transfers that Easy2Name sell.

Is this what you mean by "roll neck"? like a polo-neck rather than an polo-shirt?

IAmRubyLennox · 02/07/2012 14:23

H&M might very well do the jumpers, some of the Polish children at our school wear them instead of polo shirts when it's very cold.

Thanks I will ask school shop. Yes roll neck is polo neck, but just thought I would check ,they are proving difficult to find for a small 2 year old.
Can I just as how many shirts, trousers you recommend for a 6 year old. And thankyou for the help.

oh and yes, I would interpret the shorts thing the same way as you have. And for that reason, I would snap some up quickly now, because the shops will be unlikely to have them after the end of this term.

Good tip IamRubylennox.

Verbaudet usually have a good selection of roll necks in a gazillion colours

definately recommend getting shorts now as they are like gold dust by end of July when all winter uniform is being sold. As for how many depends on your six year old is it a boy or a girl, do the jumpers/cardigans have to have logo's or can you get away with an asda/tesco/matalan special that matches the colour? I sell tonnes of uniform and recomend new mums 2/3 sweatshirts/cardigans depending on how mucky their little one is, we don't insist on logo'd polo shirts so usually one 1 of these and the rest from asda etc. black pumps will also be like gold dust soon so 2 pairs one in this size and one in the next! M&S have pumps in stock now, as do asda.

DS has just completed 3 years of boarding so I've put a lot of name tapes on socks! I cut the name tape down to just our surname & stitch them in vertically. Never had to re-stitch one yet.

White polo neck jumpers; M&S and/or H&M or school uniform shop.

Good luck to your little one in September!

Plimsolls: I found them the hardest and had to fork out a fortune because I couldn't get DD's size. Generally supermarkets and M&S do them cheap and I now have the next two sizes up in DD's wardrobe in case she has a growth spur and I can't get them again.

We have one full set per day. But I work and don't fancy a mad wash in the middle of the week. And DD very seldom comes home the jumper/cardigan clean enough for the next day. Summer yes, as she only wears it in the morning on the way to school, Winter, never.

I used name labels in the socks but didn't bother this year. So far we never lost anything.
