We are considering to move DS to new schools which we feel may provide better learning environment for him.

We have not made up our minding that DS will definitely leaving, and he is happy with the current school.

In this situation, how do we tell school that when we are taking him out for new school visit/interviews? We are looking or independent prep schools.

When we were in this situation, our DC was "under the weather" and not coming in that day. When we had a shorter visit one morning, but wanted our DC to return to school mid morning, I sent an email to the teacher at tea time the day before, to say that our DC had an appointment and would be in school by 11am. I padded out the email a little with "Sorry for inconvenience, short notice etc." She assumed this was a medical appointment, but I didn't specify. She asked how DC was feeling, when I dropped off, "Oh, fine thanks for asking."

Keep it polite and factual, yet vague. You don't need to reveal any possible plans at this stage.
