Shawlands Primary or St Conval's Primary. Any advice on which is best?

I live in Shawlands, Glasgow and have a three year old boy who will be starting primary school next year. I am undecided which primary school he should go to. Does anyone have any advice as to which is the best primary school in Shawlands? I have heard that St Conval's has a good reputation and the Government report seems slightly better than the report for Shawlands Primary. Also, which is the better secondary Shawlands or Holyrood? Any advice will be much appreciated. thank you

It is perhaps different then by council area. I would just hate for someone to be caught out and lose their catchment place, so OP just double check before making a placing request.

prettybird - thank you for the feedback on Shawlands and Langside. This is very useful. I thought the same as you - that my place at the school I registered him was safe until a placing request was accepted.

trixymalixy - thank you for pointing this out to me. I will look into it all in great detail if I decide to go ahead with the placing request.

tracyandcalum why not ring the council and ask, just to reassure yourself?

nulgirl dh says he does know (of?) the Gibbon family - says he has contributed to a couple of fundraising events for their trust.

Yes, definitely ring and ask! I was given incorrect information about placing requests by the deputy head of our catchment school, so definitely ask the department that deals with placing requests.

The "contact us" function on the GCC website is quite good: they have a duty to get back to you within a certain number of days and then you'll have it in writing!

thank you. I am stuck on Jury Service at the moment so havent had much time to think about it. I will phone the schools to find out when it is possible to visit them.
