Theo Walcott has done some football books - TJ and the Penalty.

Foul Play by Tom Palmer

  • also wrote a series on Football Academy

Bob Cattell - Glory Gardens - again a series but about cricket. Very well written. My son read these as he started to play cricket and kept saying how true to life it was (think he meant the behavour of the kids!)

Jamie Johnson series - by Dan Freedman
Oh and David Beckham released a few books - I think they are called the David Beckham Academy books?

Hope that helps! My son LOVED these and has read and re-read them.Books from the age of 7-11 I would think.

And don't know if you've thought of any audio books but the following 2 were hilarious and even had me giggling.
Why We Got Chucked Out of the Inter-Schools Football Competition'
and
How We Got Back into the Inter-schools Football Competition
both by David Ross.
They are also in paperback but the audio is funny. First book starts off with the goalie explaining how it wasn't his fault they lost 22-0 or something like that. These are probably for a slightly younger age group but the audio will keep you entertained.

Sorry to whittle on!

DD has read some of Pippa Funnell's books. They wouldn't be her favourites though.
