If I move into a new Borough, and all the School places are filled, what happens?

We are moving within the next couple of months in to a new Borough.
Currently there are no places at any schools in the area for Reception within a couple of miles.

Obviously I know this could change, but if not, what would happen?

Would I have to accept a further distanced school?

They have to find you a place. If that place is more than 2 miles away by the shortest walking route they will have to provide free transport for your child. If you reject the place they offer they don't have to come up with any alternative. You can't insist that they come up with a place within 2 miles of home I'm afraid.

Thanks for that info.

I hadn't heard of that. I am concerned about the distance as I would ideally like to walk with the baby to and from school.

But at least now I know I won't have to worry about travel expenses if a get a place further away.

Thank you!

The travel expenses are only for the child - not for you if you are accompanying them.
