Hello and thanks for stopping by :)

As my eldest is turning four in March, we've done everything from school tours, registrations, assessments, and now finally responding to offer letters! I guess my question is simple as we wrap up on one good school for our daughter: which school is better - Northwood College or Francis Holland?

I understand that NC is in a beautiful and calm location, while FH is in the city limits (good for my husband actually in terms of travel). while the choosing factor is not just location, we would move anywhere, but we're mainly looking at academics, and overall development, and unbiased atmosphere.

That said, I've heard a lot of praises about FH's academics strength, and also heard about the diversity and sense of discipline about NC...

I'm confused with the two, please help :)

Thanks :)

Hi cloudycool,

Really try and figure which environment suites your daughter best. However, in terms of academics, FHS has many girls going to top Russell Group universities each year. Northwood College on the other hand also has girls going to Russell Group institutions, but not as many as the girls from FHS.

I have a niece who went to Northwood College, and right now she's at Loughborough University. Her experience at Northwood College was amazing simply because she felt the environment she studied in everyday was very cosy and relaxed. She even described the school as her second home when she was in year 6 haha.

A personal opinion of mine, would be to perhaps go for FHS. It would carry more weight when you daughter makes her UCAS application to universities, and plus she would have more of a chance of going to a top university.

Here's a link to the leaver destinations in 2011 at Northwood College:

And...here's a link of the leaver destinations in 2011 at Francis Holland School:

These links should be able to help you decide on which school to go for. Also i'm giving you a link to the Extra Curricular Activies that take place at FHS:

And... Here's the link to the activities at Northwood College:

I really hope this has helped a little.

:D
