We are looking to move DD1 for the start of next Year, into Yr 3 and looks like these might have spaces coming up.

I don't want to move her and make another mistake though - so any insight at all gratefully received.

Yes. KG = My DC's went there for 3 yrs. We left. Our experience was disappointing - a high turnover of staff, poor communication, our DC not challenged. Great pastoral care, reputation and support for SEN if that is something you require. Great sporting ethos. I personally know a lot of parents who also left for similar reasons. VERY expensive / poor value for money. Though I would say, surprisingly LOVELY parents and a good social scene. Some VERY famous parents there which is quite exciting on the school run.. Mumsnet discussion thread on KG and it's other site in Ravenscourt here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/primary/1169632-Ravenscourt-Park-Prep/AllOnOnePage

I viewed OH some years ago. My thoughts were that it was old fashioned and a bit dreary. Many local parents either love it or run from it screaming after the open day visit. I was in the latter camp. But that was almost ten yrs ago.

No personal experience at all, but hear v good things about TOV.

You'll find most preps will have space due to children moving on after the 7+. Have you considered Kew College? Parents there rave about it.

Thanks Castelford for your input. I felt similar about Orchard House but then the head has said a few things that impressed me so I am currently keeping options open!

How long ago were your children at Kew Green? I have two friends with kids there currently and they are very positive but reading the negative comments on here is making me very nervous.

I've called Kew College - they say no places currently but I've registered anyway in hope!

No experience of TOV. I know plenty of people with very happy children at Orchard House. It is traditional in that the children shake hands at the beginning and end of the day, and are expected to hold open doors for each other, but it uses new technology and encourages music and sport, so I wouldn't say old-fashioned and dreary personally. It has a small, cosy feel which is lovely for particularly the younger children. I know people who have moved from Kew Green to Orchard House, and those who have moved from Orchard House to Kew Green. Some people say the school is too pushy, others not pushy enough. I think the "right" school really depends on the individual (parent more so than child in many ways) - and only you can gauge that. Good luck with whatever you decide.
