I was an LA appointed governor and I loved every second of it. I've been on the board since 2006 and done everything I can for the school. Unfortunately my health is not good at the moment and I can't give the staff and children the attention they deserve. I've just sent the chair a note of resignation and I'm in tears but they deserve someone who can give them more :(

I am sure that the school will be sad to see you go too - it is always hard to find good governors, especially those who do more than just turn up for meetings. But it sounds as if it's you that needs a bit of care and attention now and so it is perfectly reasonable to stop and let somebody else take over.

Is there a single project/activity you could continue to be involved with as an associate Governor? Or perhaps maintain a link with school as a reading volunteer or similar. You can always reapply when you feel in a better position healthwise. I am sure they will be sad to say goodbye to your support.

Thanks I may talk to them about what Jwim has suggested I'm so sad to give it up
