So my DD had her big moment last night and performed her reading last night in the carol concert. She had chosen to learn it by heart so that she didn't have to look at the sheet, she spoke head up slowly and clearly with expression. There were tears in my eyes. I obviously am biased, but I thought she gave the best reading of the evening even compared to much older girls, but I think the number of parents who came up to me afterwards to compliment her probably reflected that.
After a very difficult school year last year this years teacher has restored my bubbly, confident girl to me. Thank you thank you thank you for seeing that being old for your years can be a good thing and encouraging her. Her wonderful teacher had a thank you card from me and DH e-mailed the head of department to express our delight.

Smile there are tears in my eyes as well and I don't even know you! Well done your DD.

How lovely! Well done your DD! And how great that you and DH have let the teacher know how much you appreciate her/his efforts - it will make their day.

Hurrah, I'm so pleased for you all.

PS, I saw your should I say yah boo shucks to you thread about the mean old boot your daughter had last year. Dale Carnegie's HTWFAIP would say definitely don't. Personally I'd say yeah, go for it. But Carnegie's book sells almost as well as the Bible. My book, How To Get Your Own Back on Old Bags hasn't made enough money to go to press.

learnandsay hopefully the jungle drums will do their bit as the Head of Junior school made a bee line across the hall to personnally congratulate DD and he shares an office with last years teacher.
I have to say I don't read any books just parent by the seat of my pants so last year had me thinking I had it all wrong and I climbed back into my shell till the summer holidays.
