What years are you applying for? (September 2012 places deadline was 31 October)

We moved to MK over the summer holidays. We looked at available properties and their secondary school catchment areas then looked into primaries. We found that our most local ones were over subscribed so my children don't go to our nearest school but we managed to find a place at another outstanding school so are happy. In our limited experience, MK is very car centric so lots of people drive their children to school.

The School Admissions office were very helpful with divulging which schools have vacancies so it's worth calling them with hypothetical addresses and availability at local schools.

Oh thank you very much for the information! We will be looking into September 2013 places so hopefully we got sometime to prepare.

Do you think the secondary school is more important than the primary one? I heard that Fulbrook middle school and Ousedale in Newport are quite good, are you in one of them?

Would you please let me know which outstanding school are your children go to? I'm a bit clueless about the really good schools. I know that we can't fully rely on Ofsted report but that's the only means at the moment...

StThomas Aquinas RC Primary in Blethcley is apparently one of the top Primaries in the country, according to yesterday's Sunday Times. In case that's helpful.

Bletchley

Thank you Swedes2 :), I went to their website this morning by coincidence! However people don't recommend to live in Bletchley though...? How about you? Are you living there?

My oldest will be going to secondary school next year and we didn't want to move again for a long time so the secondary was really important. We live in catchment of Shenley Brook End and Hazeley Academy for secondary schools. I've only been to the Open Evening but have heard good things through local people so am really excited.
Plenty of time before 2013...
You can find out the distance that successful applicants lived from the school in previous years from the council or school.

I wouldn't limit yourself to outstanding schools either. There are good schools round here that I'd be happy for my kids to go to. (these schools get outstanding for pastoral care which is top of my wish list for schools)

No, sorry. I know precisely knothing about MK, Bletchley or their environs. Just read about that school in yesterday's Sunday Times.
