What info do you get at the start of the year from school? Curriculum evening, meet the teacher, letters?

We have had absolutely nothing! I would like to know the plan for homework, what they might learn this year, and an opportunity to actually meet the person who is teaching my child.
Is this normal?

We get a newsletter (on line), with all the term dates and parents evening dates.

Then after the first week or so we get a sheet of A4 folded over with the focus for that term on it, and a not of what the homework will usually be.

We get the school planner when they have been back a few days, and it usually states what each KS will be doing.

Our Meet the Teacher evening is not til the end of October.

Maybe I'm being impatient then given they have only been back since Monday?

We had a 'curriculum parents meeting' at the end of last year so we knew what was coming up. Info is available online so you can see (limited) information for this term eg:
Science:Health and Growth

Identifying basic food types
Looking at favourite foods and foods for special occasions
Considering how exercise contributes to good health
Considering the human life cycle
Indentifying hazards and risks in medicines
How to feel better when ill

We don't know on a weekly basis. This term no official teacher meeting until half term I think. But we do know what day homework is set etc.

We got nothing. School did not even tell us when the school reopened after the summer holidays.

nothing here but we usually get a curriculum leaflet for each half term

we get a meet the teacher evening this Friday, unfortunately you get to go with the teacher to the classroom and see the curriculum. Slightly concerned as to how I am supposed to split myself in 3 for each child in the school as they are at the same time Does anyone have one of those Apple slicers in adult size ? Can't even say will do you as have done that teacher before as they all have new teachers, DH can't be there and am wondering if I go whether DC will work out which one I went to and the other 2 feel left out. We do have the option of being emailed the presentations from each class so may just not go at all and ask for the email.

We had a meeting at the end of last year (but this was for moving into Reception, don't think any other year had one) where we met teachers and found out which teacher our child would have, had a look around the classroom and got general info on term dates/uniform etc. We were given dates for a meeting on what the curriculum covers this year and some info on how we can help our children at home. There are two dates - one during the day and one in the evening.

We get weekly newsletters but didn't get one this week, not sure yet whether that's cos it's the first week back of cos dd is only in the mornings this week (sometimes the newletter isn't ready by the end of morning sessions).

If you are wondering if any parent events are planned, yes you should ask the school. They should have the whole year planned so will be able to tell you.

GIVE THE TEACHERS A CHANCE.......... they have been back 3 days, meeting new children, doing assessments to work out reading/maths levels, acclimatising the children, labelling unlabelled clothes, introducing the term's topic............

Maybe next week, they'll get round to sending parents an e-mail.

At dd's school they had a 'meet the teacher' session every day this week for each year group. At that session they went through curriculum for the year (in brief), homework expectations, PE kit etc. They also introduced the whole year team including TAs. We've had that every year so far, she is in year 3. Also there was an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
