If you were a reception teacher (or any primary really) what would you think to the note I plan to hand in!

DS is going on a school trip (Yr R). They are going to a local place which I know has trampolines that do not have safety nets. I don't allow DS to go on trampolines without nets.

I plan to write "Please do not allow DS to use a trampoline without a net". The permission slip does state that a risk assessment has been done so do you think I am out of line sending this note to the teacher?

Is it a trampoline in a gym where one child at a time is on it watched by an instructor, or one in a playground where loads of kids are going to be going mental on it at once?

Playground, only supervision will be from school staff, not staff who work at the place.

It's perfectly reasonable to express your concerns, and you can ask for a copy of the risk assessment so that you can judge for yourself.
At the end of the day, it's a reasonable concern and a polite note.

So-called safety nets do not prevent trampoline accidents, and they sometimes cause accidents by giving a false sense of security.

Proper supervision, one child at a time, is what is needed.

OP have you spoken to the teacher running the trip? IMO no teacher wants children on a trampoline of any kind at any time as her career is on the line when/if there's an accident! And no HT would sign off a trip risk ass't where there were plans to use a trampoline without mega safety stuff in place prob including extra insurance and sign off from the Council etc etc ( I am a HT).

Just ask, she will prob say 'Oh my goodness, no way is any one going on the trampoline' etc. Then you won't need the note.

Agree with christine, bet there not using the trampolines. Don't think I'd be happy with that either. And at belgo, I leave my DDs unattended on our trampoline all the time! (bad mummy). It has a net and I tend to think that's fine. The door overlaps so they really can't fall out. I guess they might twist an ankle, but they could do that with me stood there! (I'm never too far away). You can't wrap them in cotton wool!

I'd speak to them rather than do a note personally.

If so then I think that you are being slightly over protective. If they are high trampolines, then definitely send your note. :)

I think you should speak to the teacher rather than sent a note. Also, tbh they are probably not going on the trampolines anyway.
