McDreamy. I got some brown sandals, the enclosed sort. Worn lots all summer afterwards.

Raisin, disagree that linen on boys who like to play looks pants in 10 mins. Crumpled linen looks GORGEOUS on little boys! And a smear or two of chocolate/ jam etc. also looks nice. It's relaxed and smart looking IYSWIM.

When my brother was 6 he went to our uncle's wedding. My mum dressed him in a blue shirt with navy blue sailor collar, navy blue shorts, white knee length socks and navy blue t bar sandals. This was 25 years ago. Is it just me who thinks it's sad that little boys are no longer dressed like this? He looks lovely on the old photos we have of him.

DS went to a wedding last year wearing a pair of black trousers and a striped shirt both from M&S last year. I really dislike little boys in suits. Think it looks awful.

When my son was 7 we put him in chino's and a smart shirt for my cousin's wedding. We had much more of a problem when his Dad remarried and my son was 13. No point in buying a suit as too expensive and unlikely to be worn again before he grew out of it. The only trousers available were either joggers or combats, neither of which I thought were at all appropriate. We ended up at John Lewis (having trailed round all the 'trendy' places) and much to our surprise found a pair of smart trousers that actually fitted (he is long and skinny), didn't cost a fortune, and didn't look like school.
