our primary school band/orchestra now boasts 14 musicians and (fingers crossed) seems to be really taking off. I'm a volunteer and it's my hobby.

ok, I know I should let the kids name the band... but I can't resist thinking of names.... something that will draw other children in, but not just the classical ones, not just the cool ones, not just the confident ones, something inclusive.

my favourites so far are:

The Notations (does this sound like a Diana Ross backing group though - is it too girly?)

or

The Drumbeats (this reflects what we do as they are doing aural learning, relying on the drummer, as opposed to focussing on sheet music)

or

the A42s.

A42s is after the road we are on! (I have slightly road-name-changed in mumsnet tradition). I thought this would be fun as usually we don't exactly dwell on the fact that we are on an A-road! And it reminds me of the B52s and of Springsteen's E-street band.

all serious or not so serious comments welcome!

Hmm - can't think of any right now but wanted to bump this for you - and hope others get inspiration soon - although I like the Drumbeats Smile

"B sharp" ? as in be sharp, ie. trendy? probably crap, especially if your orchestra is mainly wind instruments, but it's a thought.

Hurrah- how exciting, I feel very honoured (and will not be at all put out if you offer this to your group and they all look at you rather blankly before offering a lot better suggestions)
Hope it all goes well and you all enjoy it.

-Neerg rolls off feeling a little like she has won a raffle!Smile
