Agree.
It is a very derogatory way to talk about a school that for some parents will be the only option, some parents will like it and most importantly it is a great number of children's school and they shouldn't have somebody who doesn't even attend their school in many cases use these terms to talk about their school and by default them. I know I would hate for my children's school to be described using these terms even it wasn't the best school around and I know my dd would be very very upset if she heard somebody talk about her school in that way. It is about respect for the children attending the school.

It's also about the fact that the school is not what the OFSTED report says. Plus mud sticks, if you constantly say a school is crap, then why are the staff, pupils and parents motivated to improve it. It's also counterproductive. If you say X school is crap are you the kind of parent who is going to be really negative about the school you do choose?

It's also in my experience usually used by people who haven't actually been to the school - and are basing their judgement on OFSTED, SATS and gossip.

The SATS one is particularly irritating, because you can bet your bottom dollar that they are the same parents who complain about the school making kids do SATS practice!
