I have heard good things about chesterton (may have mentioned on a thread before so you may be referring to that Mrsrobertduvall). It is Outstanding. Very 'mixed' (meaning not middle class) intake in terms of the local area so you need to be ok with that. Haven't visited though as too far away. If I was nearer I would consider seriously. Shaftesbury used to have a not great rep as I'm sure you know, but I think the bilingual stream is sure to change things. Look at Wix - people wouldn't have touched it a few years ago and now you have to live on the same street to get in... Have you visited either? My experience (slightly further west) is that outside of the obvious Northcote Road schools, you are unlikely to get parents from any of the other schools commenting on this type of forum I'm afraid. Better to go along to school events (summer fair?) and get a sense that way. I went and visited my local (similar to these two) schools 4 times - including 2 meetings with the head - before deciding to put it as first choice!
