Any teachers out there who can tell me what CATS are please? (not the feline type-I know what they are!)

I have also put this in education.

My 9 year old son (year 4) has just told me he had a CATS test at school today. He doesnt seem fussed by it but he asked me what they are about and Im Blush to say I have no idea (I have heard of SATS but CATS are a new one on me!)

Anyway he said he scored "80something" but doesnt know if it is out of a hundred. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether this is a good/bad/average score?

Also is this anything to do with the 11+ exam that he will be doing in Year 6 or absolutely nothing to do with it?

All these tests, I just cant keep up with them Grin

Essentially they are IQ tests.

They are usually normalised around 100 so 100 is average but IME if this is the first time your DS has been exposed to this sort of test he may well underperform.

11+ exams vary but tend to be more like CATs than SATs

Thank you Grimma.
