Would you take DC out of school for the morning to look at another school?

Tommorrow Im off to look at another primary which has 1 place that has come up. The headteacher showing me around in the morning. I was surprised they had a place let alone able to show me around so quick- only rang this morning!

Nothing wrong with current school at all, it's just the other school is much closer to the house we just exchanged on.

The dilema is do I take dc with me to look?

I mean it would be nice for her to see it so she can see what she might go to/ be part of decision? Or is it not worth it?

If I do take her what do I tell the current school about why she isnt there?!

No, not fair on her to make her part of the process at this stage- she is too young. If she was in secondary school you might involve her in your choice, but at this age, imo, you should do the choosing.

My dd's have just changed schools, I didn't take them to see it until a quick tour the week before their taster day. They were 4 and 6.
When I went round I didn't inform their school at the time until they went for a look round and then I told them the truth, that the dd's were going to look round their new school.

I just dont know if be nice for her to see the school incase she goes there.

Maybe if I like it and we offically change her I will ask if she can come in so at least she can get used to idea over Christams holiday.

When I moved ds1 I didn't take him until I knew I was definitely moving him there. He moved after Christmas and they had him in for the last hour a few days before Christmas break while I did all the paperwork.

I would go and see what you think first. You may not like it and she may love it, which could cause you issues. I agree that it should be your choice, not your child's as it is too much pressure for a young child to make such a big decision for themselves.
