School have been given some sort of extra funding for DD to do extracurricular activity - what is it?

DD is 7, was HE until May, and is registered as a traveller child at school. She has no difficulties at school, in fact she adapted very well and is getting on fine academically and socially (so I am told, anyway).

Her teacher told me this morning that they have been given some additional funding for DD to do an out-of-school activity and to help cover transport costs for us to take her. They are going to talk to DD about what she would like to do.

I feel a bit awkward tbh. Grateful, of course. But do they think she is deprived in some way? Is that why they have got this money? Where will it have come from? Does anyone know exactly what grant/funding it is?

Does she get free school meals?

I was just going to ask the same thing - my friend's child, who has free school meals, gets a free after school activity too.

Can't remember the actual name, I'll check tomorrow if you like.
It's a national scheme to help targeted children access something that they might not get the chance to otherwise. We have several children who access out of school activities paid for by the scheme, all from loving and caring families who are less affluent. The children enjoy it and there's no fuss or stigma attached. Grab it whilst it's going. Smile

It's called Go4it. Get it before it goes, like all other peripheral funding!
