I am a parent who loves crying about teachers

Is this the best forum for me. I have never taught but understand that having 2 children makes me the consumate expert. I am jealous that I see teachers earning 40,000 a year whilst I have to survive on 8000 a year which is so unfair. I like to b itch about teachers on the playground and trash their reputations amongst my bingo playing friends. I have read many threads on here and feel sure it is the place for me.

mrz · 03/10/2010 09:23

emptyshell I've always found Kelly's posts to be light hearted (with just a hint of sarcasm when needed) it breaks the "tension" when things get a bit serious Grin
TES has more than it's fair share of real Trolls!

How did I know this would be a kellyegg thread?!

brassband · 03/10/2010 15:00

Kellyegg- why aren't you earning the minimum wage?

Do you think £21.5k is a good wage?

mrz · 03/10/2010 15:04

I think £21K is pretty good pay for someone starting out in teaching. Yes we could all earn more in the private sector and many of us did

brassband · 03/10/2010 15:18

Actually he has been teaching 5 years now so is on a lot moree than that.I was just using the £21.5 to illustrate what some teachers are on.
I actually think £21.5 for someone teaching reception children ABCs,glueing and glitter is OK.Not for teaching A level physics.

IndigoBell · 03/10/2010 15:23

Not for teaching A level physics.

Wow! You think it's easier to teach kids to read and write and be members of a school community than to teach A level physics to bright kids who can already read and write?

Do you think reception teachers do less preperation / work less hours / what?

Not to mention A level classes rarely have 30 kids.

Waiting for the sparks to fly.....

brassband a lot of of other newly qualified professionals are finding they have to work for nothing (intern ships) so if a NQT secures a job at £21K they are very fortunate.

crisproll2 · 03/10/2010 15:45

Brassband, your post is exactly the reason I found kelly's so funny.

I teach older children and am in awe of all reception and Year 1 teachers (P.1 and 2 where I'm from) do.

Their teaching skills, organisation, knowledge of the curriculum and empathy never ceases to amaze me. Hats off to them and the wonderful job they do. I know I couldn't do it!

Glue and glitter...if only!!
