I am a parent who loves crying about teachers

Is this the best forum for me. I have never taught but understand that having 2 children makes me the consumate expert. I am jealous that I see teachers earning 40,000 a year whilst I have to survive on 8000 a year which is so unfair. I like to b itch about teachers on the playground and trash their reputations amongst my bingo playing friends. I have read many threads on here and feel sure it is the place for me.

I'm sorry - I believe it's one of the native TES trolls escaped from the secure pen we try to keep them in. Sadly TES has tightened up their moderation substantially lately so I suspect there may be more... ahem... visitations.

If anything by the name of Chris wanders by - run and hide.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 01/10/2010 10:35

yes. He took early retirement and then did agency work.

KnittingisbetterthanTherapy · 01/10/2010 10:37
Sad

I have the utmost admiration for secondary teachers, I really don't know how they do it.

mrz · 01/10/2010 18:18

emptyshell Kelly is from TES but he isn't a troll!

Feenie · 01/10/2010 18:26

He is a somewhat controversial poster though, I would say.

catinthehat2 · 01/10/2010 18:27

Do tell....?

Feenie · 01/10/2010 18:31

Just do a search on TES!

mrz · 01/10/2010 18:33

Perhaps but I do like Kelly

Sorry, but I found the OP very funny...

nzshar · 01/10/2010 20:41

while I think OP is funny, on a bit of a serious note while I do not pretend to know about teaching as such I am an expert on my child :). Always have thought that it must be very hard to 'know' 30 odd children.

crisproll2 · 01/10/2010 20:44

Children can sometimes be a bit different at school than they are at home.....Can be a positive thing!

cory · 01/10/2010 21:51

good point, crisproll: I may be an expert on ds at home, but ds at school is a totally unknown quantity- wish I could take him home

stillconfused · 01/10/2010 22:07

I know lots of parents who think they are better qualified than teachers (and like to air their opinions) but they generally don't tend to be on minimum wage - rather the opposite Hmm

emy72 · 02/10/2010 09:08

I think if you've come to find people earning less than the minimum wage and play bingo you're on the wrong forum love mwah x

Octavia09 · 02/10/2010 09:08

I have two DS and this is such a job. Imagine you have 30 till 3pm! You need good nerves as well in addition to the teaching degree.
Also, do not forget that we all depend on the education. I would say that teachers in many countries are very underpaid. The welfare of the country depends on the teachers (at any education institution) because they teach our kids who one day will get a job and some will become MPs, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers etc.... But good education does not only depend on the teachers but also on the parents. 40K for a teacher's salary is fine but what about the footballers and other people in sport who earn millions. I do not think they deserve to earn so much money. WHat a brainy work. And your friends waste their money on bingo instead of spending it on evening courses or a nice book.

spanieleyes · 02/10/2010 09:24

There are very few primary teachers earning 40K!
I am top of scale, through threshold and have a TLR allowance and I don't earn anywhere near! ( Wish I didGrin, luckily I didn't come into teaching for the money)

Clearly the OP thinks all teachers live in London!

mrz · 02/10/2010 09:31

UP3 = £36756 (England not London) + minimum TLR £2478 isn't a million miles from £40K

crisproll2 · 02/10/2010 09:44

I understood the OP was being ironic about parents' attitudes on this board about teachers and the presumptions and misapprehensions they often make.

I also thought the OP was a teacher too and would know very well what the salary was.

As I posted before, very funny. The thought of MNetters going to bingo......

However that could be my own presumptions!

spanieleyes · 02/10/2010 11:25

Oooh Good, another 4 years for me then and I should make itSmile

nickelbabe · 02/10/2010 11:32

well, I had one boy at junior choir practice last night for about 40 minutes, and after having written out a lesson plan and had to implement it, my brain was knackered .

I can't even think about 30 children for 6 hours a day for 5 days a week, planning interesting and different lessons, and implementing them.

I think i'm having a nervous breakdown jsut thinking about it. Confused

daisy5678 · 02/10/2010 13:57

Banned from TES website, though.

kellyegg · 02/10/2010 20:09

This was an outrage, I simply took Gail robinson's bingo marker just at the moment she had 4 corners. She was livid the prize was a tin of John west salmon. anyway I was banned. So tell me will i look like less of a person if I say I was bullied on Mumsnet.

Big wave to MSZ (can you post red shoes on here

mrz kellyegg's behaviour's always bordered on the trollish on TES, just hanging far enough below the parapets not to attract as much attention as the main resident loons.
