Which village should we live in to go to central Guildford schools?

DC will be going to central Guildford prep schools - where shall we live? Our preference is for Wonersh, Shamley Green and Bramley area but we've heard its easier to commute in from the eastern villages or Busbridge?

We don't want urban living so probably not Guildford itself, possibly Pewley Hill or Merrow but not keen to be urban. However, I would like DC to see their school friends relatively easily.

Any ideas? We have sufficient budget but don't know where to live.

I would have though Busbridge was harder if you know the rat run via Warwick's Bench. Eastern villages have the advantage that they are on the train line when they are older. Which senior schools are you thinking of? Because that could be a big consideration.

Admittedly you may want more town centre when they are older anyway. Pewley Hill/Warwicks Bench is very close to open countryside.

I know this area well

please bear in mind that when your kids are older you will be a constant taxi if you are not on a good train or bus route. Also you will find that other families at GUildford preps will come from far and wide - Hampshire up to almost west London so parties/playdates etc will be widespread so in that sense it doesn't really matter where you live! But don't have a school run that takes you through the Guildford one way system in the morning if you value your sanity....

Thanks yes we have considered bus routes as well as train and prefer buses as we don't have to pay the premium of paying to be a near a station. Alot of the trains don't run often or late but alot of the buses from the villages run frequently until late.
