Good Schools South of Cambridge? Any recommendations?

Hi, We're moving to Cambridge for a job relcation and really want to focus on finding a good area for schools. I'm overwhelmed with information from Ofsted reports and would really appreciate some insider knowledge of where the good schools are South of Cambridge? We're flexible within a 10 mile radius of Cherry Hinton. From what I've read, it seems the Southern villages (Fulbourn, Bottisham) have really good schools. I've heard Cherry Hinton isn't as good, but we've seen a house we like there ;-(

Bottisham isn't a South Camb village, more north.

Do you want to be in Cambridge itself? Saffron walden is 14 miles from cherry hinton and has a lot of excellent state primaries and a couple of decent secondaries. I've heard the secondary at Linton is good too.

Buy a house near the Spinney School. I have heard it is one of the best in the area.

You need to look for a house in the school catchment area if you want your child to study there. Most of the primary schools accept no more than 30 kids. If you live in the Cherry Hinton and then want to get a place, for example in Fulbourn then you will be probably end up on the waiting list unless it is a private school.

We were thinking of Linton too, though it's the farthest out we'd like to be (my husband would like to cycle to work, which is based in Cherry Hinton).
