My DD11 has always been so level headed and well adjusted, taking everything in her stride. She was so excited to start year 7 but has really struggled to settle in the first few weeks.

We've been helping with coping mechanisms and strategies which seem to be helping a it with making new friends and coping with the totally different routine, but one totally unexpected effect has been the one or two Bedwetting accidents each week. Now like any kid she’s had the odd accident before, but not for a couple of years now and not anything like this regularly. She’s so embarrassed, and I’m sure the stress of this is playing in her mind and making everything else about the transition feel even harder to deal with.

Because it’s wo out of character we took her to the GP who’s ruled out anything obviously medical, no bloody sugar issues or UTI, putting it down to the school change and pressures. I suppose it’s probably just a case of waiting it out, helping her to settle and hoping it’ll go away again on its own as quickly as it’s started, but appreciate any advice for how to help her process this and get back to that headstrong girl who can take on whatever life throws her way.

Sorry to hear that your daughter is having a tough time with the transition to secondary school. My DD has newly started first year and is very up and down about it all and struggling mainly with the social side of being at a larger school.
Has she mentioned which aspects of school life are worrying her the most? Also wondered if you’ve contacted her guidance teacher at school to ask for a bit of support?
