School Bag year 7

What school bags are year 7 girls using? My daughter is starting secondary in September and is ND. She desperately feels the need to fit in and be the same as everyone else but I obviously can’t stalk the school gates looking.

Ask parents of her current classmates who have older siblings.
You can also look to see what current students at the school have, without stalking the school gates - they will be walking to and from school and have places that they "hang out" afterwards.

There is normally huge variation on these threads with the "must have" item at one school/area being a complete "no no" in another, so local knowledge is key.

If her current primary school bag is inoffensive or you have something like a plain rucksack at home, you could also go with the option of her using that for the first week or two until she works out what others have.

At my older DDs school they either have plain black sporty backpacks or some of the older girls have large tote bag type ones.

I would recommend if she can use something she already has in September and have a look at what other kids have and buy something then.
My younger DD is starting secondary in September too and she is going to use the one she is using now for the first week or two (black adidas backpack).

If that’s not possible you won’t go far wrong with a black backpack.

Also worth checking if there is any specification from school, some are saying plain black only these days

DD 13 has a plain black Eastpak school bag Day Packer, DS has a plain back Samsonite bag, he was more into functionality.

DS (year 8) has a black and grey rucksack.

When my DD, now year 10, started year 7 they all had plain-ish black backpacks. Now all of her friends have this type of bag.

DD still uses a backpack as she says her friends are daft and will do their backs in. She's such a grandma, ha ha! But if I was that age and wanted to fit in I'd go for the handbag style that they all have.

Black rucksack. I think its school policy.
Although have seen older girls with totes

DD’s in year 8, her school only allow black rucksacks with a small logo and most of the kids I see have a variation of Adidas, Puma, Nike etc.
