Recommendations for a book with advice and techniques to support with focus and concentration in an 11 year old?

DS11 has been really easily distracted and had trouble concentrating since starting school. He’s in secondary now and with less of a hands-on approach from the teachers, his work is suffering.
He recognises that he has trouble focusing and wants to improve but is struggling to keep control. We’ve ‘named’ his brain talked about how he needs to be in charge of it and take control when his mind wanders.
I have always suspected an element of ADHD and had him assessed by school SEN more than once, but they don’t think it is. He isn’t hyperactive but fidgets constantly.
I’m looking for a book that will offer advice or suggestions for techniques that we can arm him with to help him remain focused. Any suggestions?

I don’t think you can learn to focus from books. Dance, drama and music (orchestra) are all activities that have been scientifically shown to help kids focus. The key thing is doing synchronous coordinated activities with a group of people. Look up research from Adele Diamond.

Has the SENCO at High School assessed him @Imabitbusyatthemomentand does he have an ECHP? He doesn’t need a diagnosis to have one as they are based on need.

Sorry I didn’t answer your actual question about the book. I don’t know of one either sorry.

Some things that might help are:

having a high protein breakfast

exercise like running, martial arts, cricket swimming

Meditating

Have you read up on inattentive ADHD @Imabitbusyatthemoment? Smile
