Book recommendations for pre-teen development

I loved The Wonder Weeks for baby development and found it really useful just for knowing roughly what to expect and what was coming in terms of baby development timelines and I feel like I could really do with something like it for these pre-teen years. My daughter is just turning 10 and I am woefully out of my depth. I know I need to adjust my parenting and that what has worked for the last 10 years is pretty much over - I need to learn how to pick my battles and reinforce the line between normal behaviour and development and unacceptable rudeness and disrespect, but also be there for her. She had always been a chill, happy go lucky little girl but there are some big, big moods and feelings going on and I feel lost at sea. I'm not doing well by her at the moment by handling it quite badly and I need to start to shape up some ideas.

So any book recommendations would be really helpful please. Is there anything that provides some kind of timeline, lays out steps on development or is that wishful thinking?

Your post summed up how I feel at the moment OP. Shame that you didn’t get any replies. My previously cuddly daughter that i have always been close to is currently being disrespectful and pulling away, I’m finding it challenging. Did you find any advice? Please trellis me 4 months on from when you posted that it got easier?!

Untangled by Lisa Damour is good. It’s aimed at parents of Teens but I think it’s worth reading if your DD is 10. It talks about the stages they go through from being your DD and totally reliant on you to becoming an adult and how to deal with each stage.

Thanks so much! Looks good. I have just purchased it.
